More Info
The Calatheas are a large family of plants, all with stunning patterns and colors. These plants are a customer and staff favorite at Babygreens - everyone has a calathea they love. Other than aesthetics, these plants are so popular because they are both pet safe and low light tolerant, a combination that can be hard to find in the indoor plant world.
The Calatheas are flexible with light, with the exception of direct light. They prefer soil that is evenly moist at all times. Wait until the surface of the soil is just dry to the touch between waterings. These tropical plants like high humidity to keep their leaves healthy. As your calathea matures it will grow taller stalks and the leaves will increase in size. Pro tip: If you notice the leaves are browning, burning, or drying, it could be a sign that the sunlight is too direct and bright, or that the soil has dried too much between waterings.
